Practical applications of Unconventional Reservoir Analysis

Fees: 3500 $ CAD

About the Course

Recent years have seen unprecedented growth in oil and gas production in USA, all due to superflux of activities related to unconventional reservoirs. In USA, the energy economics has been tremendously impacted by unconventional oil and gas production. The economic and employment contributions from U.S. unconventional oil and gas production are now being felt throughout the U.S. economy, increasing household incomes, boosting trade and contributing to a new increase in U.S. competitiveness in the world economy. It is believed that the future of petroleum resources lies within unconventional reservoirs. This course is aimed at introducing practical methods for unconventional reservoir analysis. All forms of unconventional reservoirs, including gas hydrate, volcanic rocks, carbonate rocks are presented and specific techniques suitable for each category discussed. Numerous case studies are presented in order to enable participants develop skills in identification and development of unconventional reservoirs. Screening criteria based on both economic constraints and environmental integrity are presented. Reservoirs suitable for hydraulic fractures are identified and means of preparing wells for such treatment discussed. Candidates most suitable for multilateral developments as well as enhanced oil- and gas-recovery schemes are presented along with techniques that are best suited for specific cases.
